PURPOSE
The goal is to help you apply neurological concepts and theories to everyday life. Select a drug (prescription or illicit) that is readily available, and describe its nature (natural or synthetic), manufacturer (how created), distribution (pill, shot, smoked), structure (crystals, powder), neuroreceptor targets, prevalence, effect (how makes user feel), potency, dosage, half-life, tolerance, sensitization, abuse (why), usefulness, withdrawal, side effect, and personal reaction (what you’ve learned). Three references from quality sources are required (NIH, Mayo, etc.). No more than 10 pages total.
WHAT TO INCLUDE
PAGE 1 (4 points)
4 lines, single spaced (name of drug), course name, your name)

PAGE 2-(no more than 8) (40 points)
Include the following:
- Natural or synthetic (mushrooms vs mushrooms)
- How drug created & delivered
- (crack is cocaine hydrochloride powder
- formed into rock crystals and smoked)
- Which receptors
- Prevalence and why abused
- Potency and dosage (how long stay in your system, etc)
- Physical tolerance and sensitization;
- results of withdrawal, need to taper off?
- Why useful, dangerous, etc. (physically, psychological, social)
- Personal reaction (how strengthen or changed your opinion)
LAST PAGE (6 points)
Three (3) references to quality sources (National Institute of Health, Mayo, etc.) in APA format.
